204 Rosewood Lane
by
Debbie Macomber

Mira
September 2002

Continuing the story of Cedar Cove begun in 16 Lighthouse Rd, Debbie Macomber does what she does best, tell stories about different people in a small town.

There's Judge Olivia Lockhart, who we first met in 16 Lighthouse Rd where Olivia began her romance with journalist Jack Griffen. Now the romance has hit a few snags in the road. Charlotte, Olivia's mom, isn't feeling well. Justine, Olivia's daughter, has eloped with her brother's childhood pal, Seth Gunderson, and Jack's son, Eric has moved in with him after a falling out with his longtime girlfriend, Shelley. Olivia's ex-husband, Stan, has decided to separate from his current wife, and his unresolved feelings for Olivia have resurfaced to further complicate matters in Olivia and Jack's budding romance. Olivia's best friend Grace Sherman, who is still reeling from the disappearance of her husband of more then 36 years, Dan, has a budding romance of her own. Handsome rancher Cliff Harding has made his intentions of dating Grace very clear. To complicate matters for them is Grace's oldest daughter Mary Ellen, who Grace figures out is pregnant. But who is the father, and why doesn't Mary Ellen want anything to do with him?

Other goings on around town center on the Cox family. Zach and Rosie Cox find their crumbling marriage unsalvageable. Now they have to find away to solve the problem of custody for their two children without killing each other in the interim. Add in a mysterious stranger who appears one stormy night at Ben and Peggy Beldon's bed and breakfast, and then just as mysteriously turns up dead the next morning in their guest room! A mystery, private investigator Roy McAffee can't let go much to his wife, Corrie's chagrin.

I enjoyed my second visit to Cedar Cove, as I enjoyed my visits to all the towns Debbie Macomber creates. She knows how to craft these stories and interweave the characters. I look forward to another visit to Cedar Cove real soon.
