Someone sent me a link to a very moving tribute to our military.
I thought it was worth posting here. It is titled "Until We
Meet Again"

That's all for this month.

Dear Reader Friends,
One of my most frequently asked questions these days is, “Is there
going to be a sequel to the knitting books?” Well, there’s a short
and long answer to that question. Today you’re getting the shortened
version. (Not to worry, the long one will follow at a later date.)
This month – October – Harlequin is releasing Volume II of their
philanthropy project titled MORE THAN WORDS. I have a story in this
collection that will take readers back to Blossom Street and the
characters from A GOOD YARN. There will be updates on Lydia and
Brad, plus several of the other characters that I’m sure you won’t
want to miss. Also, you might want to take a gander at my website
for a new contest. The Halloween basket of goodies is a lot of fun.
My daughter, as talented and humble as her mother, put it together,
so be sure to check it out.
Watch, too, for my annual Christmas contest, that was just posted. A
hint at the prize: think Washington!

Hello to everyone from
Oklahoma,
Lots has been going on since we last talked. Thank you so much for
your warm and loving words to me during my saddest of times. I'm
missing Bobby still so much, but every day I'm making myself find
something that he used to do that always made me laugh. It's the best
medicine ever.
On another note, I was honored to be a part of Harlequin's More Than
Words campaign this year. For more information regarding their most
generous donation project, look for the More Than Words anthology
that's out in stores now. Debbie Maccomber, Jasmine Creswell, Beverly
Barton, Julie Leto, and I, myself, and me, were the five participating
authors this year. I just got back from the ceremony in New York City
held at the Lincoln Center. It was a fabulous event and an honor to
meet the five special women who were award recipients this year.
I also have an Intimate Moments book out in October called RIDER ON
FIRE, written under the Sala name. It's been a while since I've done a
category romance and I really enjoyed slipping back into the genre.
I also have another MIRA book out in November called THE CHOSEN, by
Sharon Sala. It's been a busy year.
It's starting to feel like autumn outside, which is good, because
that's my favorite time of year. Of course, it also means giving up
some other things, which I love, and will miss until next spring,
namely the hummingbirds. One day they were here as always and then I
noticed they were gone. I always wonder how something so tiny manages
to migrate. The winds alone would seem to be an insurmountable
obstacle, and yet they persevere.
We should all strive for the determination of a hummingbird.
Until next time.

Dear Readers:
October is a time of transition for me. Fall is definitely here-- even though
it's 90 degrees outside--the annual Pumpkin Patch has just appeared on nearby
Pacific Coast Highway. First come the Halloween pumpkins, and then before I
know it, the corner lot magically transforms into a Winter Wonderland filled
with Christmas trees.
This is the time of year when we pack up and migrate back to Hawaii for a
couple of months before the holidays--a magical time on the North Shore when
the storm surf arrives after having traveled for miles across the South
Pacific. The water may be calm and flat at sunset and then, by morning, we
hear the surf pounding. Salt mist rises from the churning waves to hover over
the bay. Our sleepy little town transforms as surfers from all over the island
head for the North Shore to catch the perfect wave.
Because I used to be an elementary school teacher, I tend to view Fall as a
time for new beginnings, not endings. It's a great time to clean out clutter
and make way for the New Year that's just around the corner. It's a time to
make plans for the coming Holidays. At the first sign of cool weather, I love
to cozy up in a comfy sweatshirt, dust off my worn out leopard print house
slippers, sip tea spiced with cinnamon, and light butterscotch scented
candles.
It's the perfect time to conjure up new characters and plots and do two of the
things I love to do best in all the world--read and craft stories. And
speaking of stories, this week I received word that HEARTBREAK HOTEL was named
one of the American Library Association's Booklist Magazine's Top Ten Romances
of the Year. I am both thrilled and honored.
Now that fall is here, why not join me in enjoying the brisk fall air, the
crackle of fallen leaves under your feet, and-- if you live near the
ocean--the sound of the surf as the winter storms reach your shores? Use this
respite between the active weeks of summer and the holiday rush to take a few
hours to do something for yourself.
You deserve it.
Please remember to stop by my web site at
www.jillmarielandis.com and sign
the guest book, too.
I'll be giving away autographed copies of some of my classics, as well as new
releases.
For those of you who dream of writing your own book, there is a brand new page
on the site entitled, Advice to New Writers. Part One "Ready...Set...Write,"
suggests some things to think about that just might give you a new goal for
this season of transformation. By the New Year, you could already be on your
way to writing your own novel!
Until next time,
Aloha,
Jill Marie
Howdy, y'all, from down
on the farm!
Great news! The wheat is planted and we have a stand. Thanks to last
night's rain we should have wheat pasture for our oversize heard by
mid-November. For fun, husband Ed is going to let me help him build
fence. But if any of you out there want to replace me, just let me
know.
As for writing, I'm negotiating two new contracts and hope to have
details by next month. The latest book, The Ranger has just been
scheduled for June of 06 and Lone Wolf's Woman will be out in Nov.
from Harlequin. Hope you'll enjoy the new books.
